All About Self-Care

All About Self-Care. Hey everyone, I hope you are well. In this post, I will be sharing the basic things all about Self-Care you need to know. As women, we go through a lot. I mean – A LOT. It has become such an important topic, and I want to share my perspective on the topic. As mothers, we make things look so easy by almost ‘pretending’ to know exactly what we are doing when we don’t have a clue. Think about it, and we rush through in and out of the shower within 3 seconds, just in case someone wants something. How mad is that? As well as loving others, it’s also important to love ourselves too.

All About Self-Care

Self-care is any activity you do to take care of your mental, emotional and physical health. The things you do to uplift your mood, reduce anxiety and have a good relationship with yourself and others.

Why Is Self-Care Important?

Single mothers are very busy multi-tasking in their everyday lifestyle. We forget about ourselves, and sometimes we hardly think about what we are doing or what it is doing to our health. We want to make sure the bills are paid on time and have food on the table. However, Self-Care is very important because it realises any negative energy and helps you relax. Don’t get me wrong, and it can get overwhelming and too much pressure that sometimes you’ll feel you can not breathe. However, practising Self-Care now and then helps refresh yourself and stay in control of things.

How To Practice Self-Care?

You must understand there are some ways rather than one way to practice self-care. This can be done daily, weekly, or monthly, whatever suit you best. You start today, tomorrow, whenever. Just let me be a part of your routine.

Physical

Exercising – You do not need a gym membership. Rather than driving or using public transport, try walking or running down the beach/parks now and then. You can even take up a monthly challenge for yourself to achieve a particular goal. No matter how busy you are, make exercising a priority.

Social

You were socialising with loved ones. Everyone is busy nowadays, especially single mums. Once you become a parent, you’ll find everyone disappears. But, it doesn’t have to be like that. Plan monthly girls catch up with your girlfriends, or a simple phone call now and then makes a difference.

Mental

Self-Care starts with your mindset. If you are stressed, everything little thing will cause emotional stress. If you are calm, everything will be fine. I understand as single mums, we are stressed every day from morning to bedtime at night. This is because we do a lot of thinking and repeatedly go over the same things in our minds. However, if you take a step back and breathe, start with one thing at a time, and try not to think negatively about yourself, everything will be fine.

Diet

Being on a healthy diet is another way to practice good self-care. Thinking about Self-Care is all about being happy and feeling good about yourself. But, of course, you also want to take care of your inner body. No, I am not talking about going from meat-lover to a vegetarian. I am talking about eating reasonable quantities and good quality food. Try something new rather than eating the same food 2 – 3 days a week. Read High Impact Plant Protein Reviews to get a good idea of the supplements available to you, and keep a food journal to help maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Yes, I know it’s tough to think about ourselves as single mothers. But Self-Care is very important. During the summer, I will personally challenge myself to take care of myself properly and be happy. Our kids learn from us; everything we do and say, they see it all. Rather than spending time on Social media or chatting on your phone for hours and hours to ease the stress, try to create something adventurous. Whatever you do, remember Self-Care is the key to living a balanced life.

My favorite metaphor about self-care is the low phone battery “you wouldn’t let this happen to your phone, so why let it happen to yourself?” I think self-care is crucial to ones entire well-being and it’s about resting and refreshing, but never quitting

I think it’s really smart to break self-care down into the categories you did. Self-care is definitely a holistic thing! You can’t just do one thing, and say that you’ve cared for yourself. Such a great reminder, thanks!

I think the main point is to take time for yourself and to make your needs a priority. So many times, moms put everyone else in the family’s needs first. For you to be at your best, you need to take care of yourself first, just like on a plane when you put on your oxygen mask before helping someone else put on hers.

Self-care is very important but is usually neglected especially when work or other matters in life overtakes your time. But self-care is the only way we’ll be able to give and share our love and self to our love ones. Thank you for sharing this.

It is so important to take care of ourselves, especially if we have others to take care of. I honestly think we do a better job at coping with all aspects of life if we make time for us x

Great tips. It’s so important to focus on yourself to ensure you can be your best for yourself and your kids. At the same time it can be difficult to make the time so you are right, you have to make the time for yourself to do the things that make you, you.

Self care is so important yet it is often neglected. How can we care for others if we aren’t caring for ourselves? Many people think self care needs to be extravagant or expensive, like a shopping spree or weekend in Vegas, and that is so not the case. It can be as simple as eating right and getting enough rest. Self care is important for everyone!

Self care is so important! I often find that I neglect self care but try to make it a point to go catch a movie with my girlfriend once a month for self care!

Self Care is so important for all moms single or otherwise. Without being good to yourself you can’t possibly be good to the other people in your life. Things like diet and exercise should be second nature to people but for some reason, they get put off and excuses get made. Very important reminders here.

Lovely post. Self-care is so important for everyone. It doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. Simple things like taking time out to read, listen to music, take a bubble bath or spend a few minutes in the garden enjoying nature can help.
