Meet Health Care Agency Owner Ugochi Eze

Meet Health Care Agency Owner Ugochi Eze. Hello everyone, I hope you are well. In today’s post, I would like to introduce you to Ugochi Eze. Ugochi Eze owns a Health Care Agency called Senior Angels in Lagos, Nigeria. In case you don’t know, I am Nigerian, and I know how difficult it can be to find a support system for any business. I was very excited when Ugochi reached out to me for an interview. You all know how much I love empowering women by supporting their business. I am proud of the way my interviews are empowering women to come forward and share their stories.

Meet Health Care Agency Owner Ugochi Eze

Hello Ugochi, it is a pleasure to interview you. What inspired you to start a Health Care Agency?

The power of compassion is far greater than anything money can do. We can have such an influence on the world. Everyone is inherently unique as long as we are aware. To be an instrument of compassion is the authentic influence beyond affluence.

I lost my dad last year after a brief illness. My siblings and I had to shuffle between work and taking care of him. When we got back from work, we had just a little time to spend with him because we had to prepare for work the next day. I noticed he was always happy whenever we were with him, even though for a short while. He couldn’t talk, but there was always this smile on his face.

Though he was sick, he needed a companion. Someone who would always be around him and talk to him and keep him company. I resolved that as he couldn’t get the love and attention he needed at the time, I would make sure others get it. After he died, I realised that I had a better purpose in life. I needed to do something to contribute to humanity. This birthed the idea of starting up an adult care agency.

What Services do you provide?

We provide a wide range of services not limited to

  • Personal care
  • Companionship
  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Medication reminder
  • Exercise and recreation
  • Respite care

When do you think it is the right time to apply for a health care agency?

You do not have to be old and sick to apply for a health care agency. At that point, where you do not have family around you even though you are not ill, applying for health care is advisable, if not for anything, for companionship.

Looking into the future, five years from now. Can you please share what do you hope to achieve from the Health Care Agency?

Five years from now, I hope to run an adult home care agency and a health care foundation because many people can not afford such services. The foundation hopes to provide these services free to those that cannot afford them.

What challenges do you have running a successful business?

Every business has its challenges. One of the challenges we face is finding qualified staff. This is because there is an increased demand for health care services, and this high demand is met with inadequately qualified staff.

How do you stay motivated in your business?

Remembering why I chose to start up an adult care agency is one of my biggest motivation. Knowing that senior citizens get the love and attention, they deserve at this stage of their life keeps me going.

What do you do for self-care?

As much as I have to work, I make sure I develop a regular sleep routine. I make sure I eat healthily and work out regularly. Basically, whenever I get the opportunity to rest, I would not trade it for anything.

I am sure some aspiring business women looking to start a health agency are reading this. What advice would you give them?

The health care field is a fascinating place to start up a career. It might seem rough and scary but remember, no entrepreneur has succeeded while working with fear. The potential for failure is always there, and that’s something we should all learn to live with. Your driving force should be the love and care people get from your services. That should be enough to keep you going.

Can you advise the audience on how to support each other during the Global Pandemic?

The best support we can give to one another in this pandemic is to observe the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines. It remains the best way to fight the virus. Do not go out if not necessary to avoid bringing the virus home to our loved ones, especially the most vulnerable members of the family, our aged one and children.

Last but not least, do you have any questions for me?

Being that you are a UK blogger, would this article get to my target audience here in Nigeria.

This is a request. Please can the audience understand that our agency is not limited to senior citizens here in Nigeria? Those that are relocating to Nigeria can also reach us.

My Response

Thank you very much for the comment. I completely understand your concern. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee this will reach the Nigerian audience. However, I have a higher following on my dedicated Facebook page, which holds over 18 thousand followers, and most of the followers are based in Nigeria. I will certainly share this post on the page and all of my other social media network.

I want to Thank Ugochi for this excellent interview, and I wish her much success with Senior Angels.
