Ten Ways To Show Yourself You Matter

Ten Ways To Show Yourself You Matter. Hello everyone, I hope you are well. In today’s post, I will be exploring ten ways to show yourself you matter. They say that a woman’s work is never done. Juggling a hectic work schedule and trying to balance other areas of your life can make you feel like you are spinning too many plates in the air at once. Life can be challenging and busy sometimes; when this happens, we can slowly lose our sense of self-care. With so many bills to pay, struggles with careers, and the need to constantly live up to the expectations of others, it’s easy to forget that you need to take care of yourself. If you feel that you aren’t giving yourself as much care as you should, it’s essential to reorganise your priorities.

Why Do You Need To Show Yourself You Matter?

Living a happy and fulfilling life requires prioritising yourself. When you know your values, you tend to have a strong personality, which reflects your self-esteem. A sense of self-worth can positively impact other areas of your life, personally and professionally. With the endless responsibilities we have to fulfil, like taking care of kids, family, work, chores, etc., there’s never enough time to think about or fulfil our needs or desires. This can lead to women feeling worn out, anxious or depressed. This feeling affects our performance and attentiveness to everything else we have to do, and we may become easily irritated and overwhelmed.

Since everyone is different, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to finding time for ourselves. However, we can prioritise ourselves in many ways and show that we matter. Practicing self-compassion is a great way to understand our needs better and make the most of our lives. When we value ourselves, it affects how we treat others, which determines how others see us. So, it’s essential to prioritise ourselves and make time for our needs, which can help us lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

Ten Ways To Show Yourself You Matter

Create Boundaries And Learn To Say No

It’s important to set boundaries and limit the number of tasks you take daily or weekly. This might mean saying no to some things, but taking care of your well-being is always worth it. As Brian Tracy once said, “If you wish to achieve worthwhile things in your personal and career life, you must become a worthwhile person in your personal life.” Your quality of life depends on how much energy you have to spare. Setting healthy boundaries is an effective way to protect your mental and emotional well-being and boost your confidence. Additionally, setting boundaries helps others respect your personal space and understand when not to intrude.

Utilise The Time You Have

Don’t waste the opportunity if you arrive early at your errands or appointments or find yourself waiting in your car. You can utilise this time to do something useful. For instance, you can read a book or practice meditation, which requires peace and calmness. Alternatively, you can listen to some music and relax. However, if you want to be more productive, you can catch up on your pending paperwork during this time. Remember, this is your time, and you can use it however you want. By doing these tasks now, you can free up some time later.

Make A Date With Yourself (And Keep It!)

Taking time out and indulging in activities you enjoy alone at least once a week is essential. To achieve this, you may need to politely decline requests from people or delegate your responsibilities to someone else, especially regarding childcare. This will allow you to relax and unwind. You can grab a drink somewhere, exercise, or retreat to a different part of your home. Engage in any activity that helps you clear your mind and recharge your batteries.

Words Of Affirmations

Words of affirmation are a simple yet powerful tool that can help you remind yourself of your self-worth. When you repeat positive affirmations to yourself, you are essentially rewiring your brain to think positively about yourself. This can be especially helpful when you are facing negative thoughts or self-doubt. Choosing affirmations that resonate with you can create a powerful tool to boost your confidence and self-esteem.

It’s important to remember to remind yourself of these affirmations often, particularly when you are feeling low or struggling with negative self-talk. This can help you gain clarity and confidence for your challenges. So, if you haven’t already, take some time to think about some affirmations that resonate with you and start incorporating them into your daily routine. With time and practice, you’ll find that positive self-talk becomes more natural and effortless, and you’ll feel more confident and empowered as a result.

Set And Pursue Goals

Our goals and aspirations motivate us to keep going, even when facing challenges. Setting goals for our physical health, career, spirituality, and relationships can bring a sense of fulfilment, especially when we achieve them. Acknowledging and celebrating our accomplishments when we reach these goals is essential. Don’t forget to give yourself the credit you deserve for your hard work.

Engage In Mindfulness

Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as intentionally paying attention to the present moment non-judgmentally. Practicing mindfulness can help you recognise the importance of your existence. When you observe your thoughts and stay present in the moment, you can gain a better understanding of yourself. Additionally, mindfulness enables you to accept your thoughts and emotions without feeling overwhelmed. This can lead to increased self-compassion and self-acceptance.”

Consider Personal Development

When you invest time and effort in your personal development, you gradually prove to yourself that you are valuable. Start by finding ways to enhance your financial, physical, and skill-related aspects, and you will soon notice an improvement in your self-esteem. Personal growth also enables you to live a more meaningful and satisfying life.

Give Yourself Credit

Giving yourself credit for the hard work you’ve put in so far is essential. We all face challenges and setbacks along the way, but it’s crucial to recognise your progress. Brating your wins, no matter how small they seem, can help boost your confidence and motivate you. One way to do this is by keeping a journal documenting your successes. This can remind you of your achievements and help you stay positive during difficult times. So, always remember to give yourself credit where it’s due, and keep celebrating your wins, big or small!

Treat Yourself

This can be an extension of the previous idea where you make a date with yourself. Once a month, treat yourself to anything you wish, such as shopping, a spa day, a movie, or even just spending time with your friends and catching up on their lives. The choice is yours. You can also go outdoors and spend a day cycling. The point is to have some ‘me’ time.

You might think that finding time for yourself is an obvious idea, but it can often be challenging to achieve. A 2014 study conducted in the UK on working mothers found that 51% of them went weeks without relaxing alone. When further surveyed, nearly 75% of the 2000 women felt they lived their entire lives for others. Some women are lucky enough to have partners and family to rely on to take the strain, while others are not so fortunate. However, you can still do things to make time in your life.”

Be Organised

By planning your day and week, you can identify opportunities for “me” time. Creating lists and reviewing your schedule can help you identify gaps in your free time. Being organised is the key to achieving this. The more you practice, the easier it becomes to find time for yourself. It could be as simple as taking a 20-minute walk. While walking, please take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the world around you, whether it’s a blooming flower or a smile on someone’s face. Everything is there to see. You have to be open to it.

That Being Said

We must recognise that our sense of self-worth is something we must cultivate within ourselves. Showing ourselves that we matter is a debt that only we can pay. This means we must prioritise ourselves, practice self-compassion, and develop a mindfulness practice that allows us to become more attuned to our inner thoughts and feelings. Setting healthy boundaries is also crucial. This means learning to say “no” when needed and being transparent about what we will and will not tolerate. Setting boundaries cannot be challenging, but doing so can help us feel more in control of our lives and prevent us from being taken advantage of or mistreated. Lastly, using positive words of affirmation is a powerful tool for developing a deep sense of self-worth. When we speak kindly to ourselves, we begin to believe we are worthy of love and respect. This can help us overcome feelings of self-doubt and insecurity and can help us lead more fulfilling lives.

Now, get yourself some ‘me’ time.

I hope you enjoyed that.
